Is Love Marriage Halal In Islam

Is Love Marriage Halal In Islam

Love is a deeply beautiful emotion. The force of love enables one to overcome challenges and win battles. In Islam, the concept of love is deeply linked with the divine attributes of Allah, who is the most Affectionate. Allah's love is the most beautiful thing in the world because no one can love us the way Allah does. If you love someone or something in the right way, it makes your life beautiful. If you love the wrong person or thing, it can destroy your life and the lives of those around you. Marriage is a very sacred relationship in Islam. In Islam, loving someone before marriage is not wrong as long as you engage in haram acts like dating, talking in private, or intercourse, etc. before marriage. Loving someone before marriage with the intention of marriage is not Islamically wrong. Many people question, " Is love marriage halal in Islam?" Here is an exploration of the Islamic teachings on love marriage.

How to do love in Islam?

In Islam, marrying someone you love is not wrong. Even, love marriage is halal in Islam. Loving someone is not in one's control. But if the feeling of love leads to violations of Allah's rule then it is prohibited(haram). Nowadays, many people wonder how they can love someone without talking to or looking at them. Both boys and girls can speak and gaze at each other before marriage, but only in the presence of their family members. Jabir ibn Abdullah (R.A) narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) guided us, saying, "If one among you wants to marry a woman, he can look at her to find something that will impress him to marry her, then let him do so."(Sahih Abi Dawood, no. 1832, 1834)

Can A Woman Propose A Man In Islam?

If a man finds a woman who is of good character, virtuous, knowledgeable, and religious, he can marry her. Similarly, a woman may marry a man who is virtuous, religious, and knowledgeable. The problem arises when they contact each other, as it is allowed (halal) in Islam for both men and women to communicate their desire to marry. Instead, they should inform their guardians (wali) of their intention to get married. We have an example of Hazrat Khadijah(R.A) when she had heard about the integrity, honesty, and moral behavior of the Holy Prophet(SAW) from her servant Maisarah, she proposed the Holy Prophet(SAW) through her close friend. She also provided the example that a woman can also send a proposal to a man, even though people often consider it inappropriate for a woman to make the first move.

Why Some Muslim Parents Are Against Love Marriage?

Some Muslim parents do not allow love marriage to their children due to the lack of Islamic knowledge. They should learn Islamic teachings about marriage. Parents should follow Islamic guidelines and support their children in love marriages. Islam permits love marriages, so they should not consider them shameful or haram. Parents should also seek their children's permission before arranging their marriages. If children refuse to marry someone chosen by their parents, they should not be forced into the marriage.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Islam recognizes the profound and beautiful nature of love while providing clear guidelines to ensure that it remains within the bounds of propriety and respect. Loving someone with the intention of marriage is permissible(halal) and even encouraged, as long as it is done in a manner consistent with Islamic principles. Similarly, love marriage is halal in Islam. The teachings of Islam emphasize the importance of maintaining modesty and involving family in the process to uphold the sanctity of the relationship. By following these guidelines, individuals can navigate their feelings responsibly and in alignment with Islamic values, fostering relationships that honor both their personal intentions and religious commitments.
